Have you seen you baby thump his head while trying to go to sleep? Don't be alarmed. It's simply his way of lulling himself to sleep. The thumping may be scary to you, but it's usually nothing to worry about. Studies show that up to 15 percent of healthy children do it, and it's three times more common in boys. It typically starts when babies are around eight months old. Only fie percent of children continue to do it for more than a few months. If a child head bangs after his first birthday, experienced a language delay, and avoids eye contact, talk to your pediatrician.

Early to Bed, give Excellent benefits to your Kid
I know it can be sometimes hard for this energetic bundle of joy to mellow down and get ready to sleep. They almost always beg to stay a little longer, play more, ask for an extra hour to stay on a computer, but all this has to stop, and you have to say "forget it".
There was a study conducted on fourth and sixth grade children that up to one extra hour of sleep markedly improved their performance on tests assessing attention span and memory, both of which are necessary for optimum school performance.
If fourth graders gets an extra hour of sleep, they can function on tests as if they were two or more years older.

Newborn Babies might benefit from having music played to them

Playing music to neonates may have physiological and behavioural benefits and might reduce pain and improve feeding, according to the preliminary findings of researchers in Canada who investigated the effects of music played to term or premature infants.
Six studies evaluated music for painful procedures. A high quality pilot study involving 23 infants undergoing circumcision showed benefits for music for the outcomes of heart rate, oxygen saturation and pain, while two low quality studies showed no difference. Three low quality studies involving infants undergoing heel prick showed some evidence that music might be beneficial.
One study involving 32 poorly feeding infants evaluated die use of non-nutritive sucking via a pacifier-activated lullaby and found a significant increase in oral feeding rates. In a study of 22 infants with chronic lung disease, there were no significant differences in physiological outcomes between those exposed to music and controls.
(Well my 9 month old girl likes music, she likes to listen to it will drinking her milk in the bottle. Although this article is for newborn.)

Spanking

They suggest pediatrician and child-rearing experts to warn against spanking, and also want lawmakers to take a stand by dedicating state money to teaching parents about the dangers of corporal punishment.
"The best-kept secret in child psychology is that children who were never spanked are among the best behaved" - Professor Murray Straus
(Here in the Philippines, sometimes when I ride a jeep back from work I would witness some mothers would spank their children if they would make a slight mistake or would trip themselves walking and I would tell myself if I would have a child, man I'm never gonna do that)
