Urinalysis and Urine Culture

Urinalysis and Urine Culture where two of the word's i heard from my baby girl pedia when she was diagnosed with UTI, Urinalysis I'm familiar with but urine culture? what is this, and man it cost so much. Then I learned that Urine Culture is a test to find and identify the germs that is causing my child UTI, and to determine what type of antibiotic the germ or bacteria is resistent to or not.

The Smile of a baby

Just got of from work today, I really felt tired and a bit stress out. Then when i came home, I was greeted by my baby with a smile, that toothless smile and both hands up trying to reach for you. Wow what a feeling, all my tiredness and stress just disappears. Now that's one powerful smile.

Poop problem solve

Hi there have you ever experience your baby having trouble with her bowel movement? Mine was, my daughter has a regular bowel movement when she was about 2 month old, until such time when her bowel movement came every 4-5 days, then sometimes to a week. This really troubled me, then came when she did poop, and man :-( the poop was so hard she cried so much, and it really breaks my heart to see those sad eyes looking at you asking for help,, and i can't do anything to comfort her. I tried calling the hospital and they advice me to use suppository med like(DULCOLAX) to soften her poop,, well it did great,, but still i was not comfortable,, inserting that thing in my babies butt, so i tried asking some people and they advice me to use prune juice,,, so there i am, searching at the department store to find this prune juice,,,we tried it and walla ;-) it did great, sometime my baby poop everyday, sometime every 2 days, or 3 days, 4 the most, but its more comforting than having to insert a suppository :-)

Have to go to work

Whenever i got to work, its saddens me to see the look on my baby , those cute brown eyes looking at me as me if to say " hey dad don't leave me here". Man it breaks my heart to see those sad eyes.

Finally the last dose

Yipeee,, we just finish the last dose of her ROTA vaccine, though it cost a lot, but nothing beats the feeling of ease that my baby wont be infected with these deadly virus. For those of you not familiar with ROTA VIRUS, here a little info:

What causes rotavirus disease?
Rotavirus disease is caused by a virus, the rotavirus. The name rotavirus is derived from the Latin rota, meaning "wheel," because the rotavirus has a wheel-like appearance when viewed by an electron microscope.

How does rotavirus spread?
The rotavirus enters the body through the mouth and then infects the lining of the intestines. Rotavirus is very contagious, spreading easily from children who are already infected to other children and sometimes adults. Large amounts of rotavirus are shed in the stool of infected persons and the virus can be easily spread via contaminated hands and objects, such as toys. Children can spread rotavirus both before and after they become sick with diarrhea.

What is the recommended schedule for getting this vaccine?
Both vaccines are given in a series: RotaTeq vaccine is given in a 3-dose series with doses given at 2, 4, and 6 months; Rotarix vaccine is given in a 2-dose series with doses given at 2 and 4 months.

The first dose of either vaccine can be given as early as age 6 weeks or as late as age 14 weeks, 6 days. Vaccination should not be started for infants once they reach their 15 week birthday. There must be at least 4 weeks between doses and all doses must be given by age 8 months. Rotavirus vaccine may be given at the same time as other childhood vaccines.
